John Munn, parents unknown, was born about 1730, and died in 1802 in Washington Co PA. The given name of his wife was Margaret according to several documents. John Munn Sr. was taxed in Nottingham Twp., Washington Co PA in 1793. The names James, John Jr., and David Munn also appears on this list. The Bible record for the family of John Munn is mentioned in Ohio Records and Pioneer Families, Vol. XII, No. 2, Apr-Jun 1971, p. 82, although the parents of the children are not named. The Bible apparently belonged to the son, David Munn, as his name is inscribed at the front. The volume itself was not published until 1814, so the dates were obviously copied from a much older list. Mrs. Weyant E. Morris of Elburn, Illinois, contributed the Bible record in 1940, and identified them as "mostly early Ohio people;" however, there is no indication at this point that John Munn or his widow ever lived in Ohio. Two Ridges Cemetery in Island CreekTwp., Jefferson Co OH, does include a nearly illegible tombstone, which the transcriber identified as "Mum?? native stone cut by hand d. Mar. 13, 1818." David Munn had a letter remaining at the post office in Steubenville in 1807, suggesting a possible Ohio residence by that date.
