JONATHAN HAINES


Jonathan Haines, son of Allen Haines and wife Sarah Ballinger, was born in 1819 OH; and died in 1900. He was married 15 Mar 1840 in Champaign Co OH (Vol. C, p. 397) to Mary Jane Sprague, parents unknown, who was born in 1824 OH; and died in 1856. Jonathan Haines was married second 19 Oct 1857 Union Co OH to Sarah Ann Collins. Mr. Haines was a farmer. According to the 1883 Union County history, the town of Haynesville in Washington Township was laid out by one Jonathan Haynes on 4 Sep 1838. This was located a mile up Rush Creek from Arbela on the southern side of the creek. It had 21 lots and a town square but soon died out as settlers moved to Byhalia.
