MO; bur. 11 Mar 1894 Stubbs Cem., Clinton Twp., Texas Co. MO. She was married first, per family records, to a brother of her second husband, probably the Lewis Sanders, age 20- 30, wife 15-20, in 1840 Cache Twp., Greene Co. AR, p. 139, neighbor to Solomon Mackintosh. Lewis Sanders first appears on the Greene Co. tax lists in 1840. She married second Cornelius Sanders, perhaps named after Rev. Elias Cornelius. Cornelius and Matilda Jane Sanders are in the 1850 census for Union Twp., Greene Co. AR, p. 178; 1860 Hartville, MO; 1870 Clinton Twp., Texas Co. MO.; 1876 State Census, Texas Co. No probate for any of the above was located.

"The Prospect", 16 Mar 1894, Mountain Grove, Wright Co. MO: in Beaver Creek items, "... yesterday 'Aunt' Jane Sanders was buried at the Stubbs cemetery." Cornelius, Matilda Jane, Andrew J., and Sabrina Sanders, are buried side by side in Stubbs Cem., Texas Co. MO.

Andrew J. Sanders probably appears as Jackson Sanders in the 1835 and succeeding tax lists for Greene Co. AR. In 1840, Jackson Sanders Jr., age 20-30, is listed in Cache Twp., Greene Co., p. 146, with a female 20-30, and a male under 5, male 5-10, and female under 5. Next door is John Sanders, age 20-30, with a family.

There is also a Texas Co. deed, Vol. B, p. 102, for O.P. Jones to A. Sanders, 7 Apr 1857, for the NE 1/4 SE 1/4 Sect. 1, Twp. 33, Range 8. I didn't check to see if "A" stood for Andrew J.

Cornelius, Lewis, Andrew Jackson and John Sanders of Greene Co. AR are certainly closely related. Other Sanders families in the 1840 census for Cache Twp. are Moses 40-50 (p. 140), John 40-50 (p. 141), Francis 40-50 (p. 148), Peter 50-60 (p. 148), and Jacob 15-20 (p. 149).

Sanders names in Greene Co. AR tax lists with the year of first appearance: Jackson 1835, Jacob 1840, John 1836, John Jr. 1840, John Sr. 1840, Lewis 1840, Moses 1840, Peter 1834, Randol 1834, Wm. 1840, Wm. H. 1840. One researcher traces Peter Sanders (wife Michel Tarbutton) from NC to Maury Co. TN to Lawrence Co. TN to Obion Co. TN to Williamson Co. IL to Greene Co. AR. Another researcher identifies these names as possibly coming out of Jackson Co. AL. They may have a Cherokee or Creek background.

Courthouse records in Greene Co. AR are apparently limited because of a fire. However, Greene Co. was formed in 1833 from Lawrence Co. AR, and some of the above appear on tax lists there in the early 1830's.
