New London Local History

New London Area Historical Society
The New London Area Historical Society was formed July 16th, 1985 by Martha Sturges and Tom Neel. The purpose of the Society is to create and build interest in preserving and collecting historical records for New London and the surrounding townships. The first officers were Martha Sturges, President; Tom Neel, Vice President; Pam Warthling, Secretary; and Harold Kirkpatrick, Treasurer. Current officers (2023) are Tom Neel, President; Michael Crabbs, Vice President; Marie Landis, Secretary; and Stacy Crabbs, Treasurer. Today we meet on the third Sunday of every month in the Museum at 13 East Main Street, New London. The Museum is also open Saturdays 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

George W. Bush, President of the United States, is the son of George Herbert Walker Bush and Barbara Pierce, both of whom had many ancestors in Ohio. The senior George Bush was born 12 Jun 1924 in Milton, Norfolk Co MA, the son of Sheldon Prescott Bush and Dorothy Walker. The first President Bush was married 6 Jan 1945 in Rye NY to Barbara Pierce, born 8 Jun 1925 Rye NY, the daughter of Marvin Pierce and Pauline Robinson.
